Why I build companies, not just software
Every week someone asks me why the Dannyokec Group registers a proper company for each product instead of shipping side projects.
The answer is simple: software without an operating company is a hobby.
What a company forces you to do
When you register a company, with the CAC, with a TIN, with real compliance obligations, you are forced to answer questions a side project never asks:
- Who owns this, legally?
- Who is allowed to touch customer data, and under what agreement?
- What happens when money enters the picture?
The discipline compounds
Okecbot, Realnaps, Land9ja, Car9ja: each one runs on the same operating spine. A registered entity, defined workforce roles, internal communication systems, and standard operating procedures. That spine is why one founder can run a group.
If you are building in Africa, my advice is unfashionable: register early, document everything, and treat compliance as a feature.
